ITV's Tonight Programme Reports On CWU's Dangerous Dogs Campaign

ITV's Tonight Programme, one of the UK's most watched human interest, current affairs series, has produced a programme on Dangerous Dogs and the issues surrounding it.

The programme is being broadcast on Thursday 28th June on ITV1 from 8:00pm to 8:30pm and is entitled "Barking Mad?" Broadcast details for other ITV regions is given below.

Attacks by dangerous dogs are at record levels in the UK. Earlier this year the CWU 'Bite-Back' Campaign drew the attention of producer Bob Jefford. Earlier this month, in one of the worst cases of recent years, a Swindon toddler suffered serious facial injuries when he was mauled by a neighbour's pet dog.

Dave JoyceWith the CWU 'Bite-Back' Campaign drawing widespread support from Police, Local Authorities, Dog Wardens, Charities, Unions, Vets and the Medical Profession with campaigners demanding decisive action, and as the Westminster Government considers new laws, Jonathan Maitland and his team followed CWU National Health and Safety Officer Dave Joyce to Wales on the 'Bite-Back' Campaign Trail where the support of the Wales Government to effect changes to the Law was achieved.

Interviews with Dave Joyce and Postal worker Union members who have become Dog Attack victims have been filmed in preparation of the programme.

With campaigners now demanding swift action from the government, the programme will focus on what can be done to stop the problem and reduce the risk of future dog attacks incidents without punishing millions of responsible dog owners.

The programme will be screened on ITV1, STV and UTV on 28th June on ITV1 from 8:00pm to 8:30pm, the programme title is "Barking Mad?". It will be repeated at 9pm on ITV1+1 and UTV1 +1 and repeated again on Fri 29 Jun at 2:30am on ITV1, UTV.
